Just to add before it concludes, the idea behind this is that gradually, everything will become an online booking system. Even the TC on the train if he has to book your ticket, he will ultimately have to do it through the system only. We will not have anybody with those slips of paper and carbon paper, लगकर वह जो चिट्ठियां बनती हैं या क्या बनता है, रिसीप्ट बनती है? EFT! That is all going to be eliminated. Even he will have to go on to the system and issue the ticket from the system, so he cannot change the time, the destination, the originating station, nothing, it will all come from the system – point 1.
Point 2 – we are going to give POS machines to all catering staff and all ticket collectors. He has started that process and we are going to ramp it up very quickly, so that that ticket printing only is going to stop that, EPT ticket printing. Everybody will have a POS machine. We will probably keep one POS machine in the driver’s cabin, because in the initial period, we may find that machines will get spoiled very soon to try and put pressure not to make the system a success.

But everybody will have POS machines, and all bookings will be made only through the system, even if payment – ideally, we will prefer everybody to pay by debit card or UPI or BHIM app or something, but even if somebody wants to pay cash he will have the ability to get a receipt from the system that so much cash has been paid. So our accounting will become very easy. We will know exactly how much cash each fellow has collected and that cash can be then deposited in the system. They all are employees, so there is no problem of any sort.
If tickets are available and the customer, the passenger knows that tickets are available there will be no ability to try and market a product, which was already available as a special favour. I am using the most diplomatic and politically correct language that I can use. The ability to market a favour will be lost, because anybody can check on the system that there are available seats, so why you are not giving it to me. If there are three TCs, whoever books it first will get it, so there cannot be any confusion or anything of double booking. Passengers can themselves also book, I have said take it to the next level, so one minute before departure from New Delhi any passenger can book, so he doesn’t even have to look for a TC. Because I know I have gone on to trains without a ticket, or you buy a platform ticket and you get on to a train and then keep roaming behind the TC for 10 compartments.

One other thing, since not related to this, but IRCTC के ही related है, is the catering service. I hope by now you all have had a chance to experience the cameras which are in public display now on your mobile phone, on all the kitchens. And my effort and hope is that ultimately, all catering on trains will be through IRCTC-authorised kitchens with public domain information about the workings of those kitchens. So, I just thought कि यह जो व्यक्तित्व है यह जो सोच है, Nanaji is one of those unsung heroes who made politics an instrument of social service and worked all his life, और जिसके लिए उनको फिर भारत रत्न से सरकार ने सम्मानित किया, earlier this year. तो मुझे लगा I must tell you. इन्होंने सरस्वती शिशु मंदिर भी देश भर में इन्होंने शुरू किये था, in the 1950s, और आज तो सैंकड़ों की संख्या में सरस्वती शिशु मंदिर चल रहे हैं। और शायद लाखों और अभी तक तो शायद करोड़ों की संख्या में बच्चे वहां से पढ़कर निकले होंगे, देश भर में बैकवर्ड एरियाज, गावों में, सबसे पहला गोरखपुर में शुरू हुआ था सरस्वती शिशु मंदिर, आज 15,000 से ज़्यादा ऐसे स्कूल चल रहे हैं पूरे देश में जो उच्च स्तरीय, अच्छी शिक्षा देते हैं, उच्च लेवल की शिक्षा। I am not of standard, I am talking of the quality of education, अच्छी quality education 15,000 से ज़्यादा स्कूलों में देश भर में दे रहे हैं।
1968 में उन्होंने दीनदयाल रिसर्च इंस्टिट्यूट शुरू किया था यहीं पंचकुइयां रोड पर झंडेवालान के पास जिसमें जो दीनदयाल जी की अंत्योदय की भावना है, integral humanism, उसके ऊपर चल रहा है। So, really a man of very-very high standards. उन्होंने फिर राजनीति छोड़कर गोंडा में काम किया, गोंडा में गांव में परिवर्तन लाना, गांव के जीवन को सुधारना और बाद में बुंदेलखंड, चित्रकूट, बुंदेलखंड क्षेत्र में चित्रकूट में literally गांव में रहकर, गांव के जीवन को अनुभव करते हुए गांव के जीवन को कैसे सुधारना।
और एक प्रकार से प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की सरकार ने उसी प्रकार से पांच वर्ष कैसे गांव के गरीब से गरीब व्यक्ति तक, कैसे किसानों तक, कैसे वंचित और शोषित व्यक्तियों के जीवन में सुधार लाएं इसको हमारी सरकार ने अपने आपको समर्पित किया। और पांच वर्ष इसी दिशा में काम करते रहे तो मुझे लगा कि यह ज़रूर मैं आपके समक्ष रखूं, बाकी तो आज का यह वेबसाइट लॉन्च हुआ है जो मोबाइल एप्प भी रहेगा और आप मोबाइल से इसका लाभ ले सकते हैं। यह दूसरा प्लेटफॉर्म लॉन्च कर रहा हूँ इसी हफ्ते में, पहले भी हमने कुछ लॉन्च किये हैं फ्रेट बुकिंग वगैरा सबके लिए और यह सिलसिला मैं चाहूंगा कि आगे भी चलता रहे जिससे और ज़्यादा पारदर्शिता, और जवाबदेही सरकार जो प्रधानमंत्री मोदी जी का मूलभूत आदेश है हम सबको – पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही सरकार। इस देश में minimum government और maximum governance दे इस काम में आप आगे भी कदम उठाते रहेंगे यह मेरी आप सबसे अपेक्षा है।
मैं वास्तव में भूल गया मुझे ज़रूर कहना चाहिए था, रेलवेज का भी एक बहुत अहम भूमिका रहती है देश को सुरक्षित रखने में और देश की सेनाओं को बैकअप सपोर्ट देने में। और आपके माध्यम से मैं अपने कर्मचारियों का भी धन्यवाद करना चाहूंगा, कई बार they are the unsung heroes, जो जान को भी निछावर करना पड़े तो पीछे नहीं हटते हैं। लेकिन बॉर्डर एरियाज में ट्रेन चलाना, आर्मी को समय पर पहुंचा देना, ammunition को समय पर पहुंचा देना, जो भी बैकअप, कई बार तो टैंक्स और बड़े-बड़े इक्विपमेंट भी जाते हैं बॉर्डर पर ट्रेनों पर। तो I think I would like to take this opportunity, and somebody please tweet this also from my account कि I want to express my gratefulness to the whole rail parivar for their role in making India safe and secure. And surely at the border areas, and I think in across the Indian railways, even for passenger safety, the DG and his whole team of RPF and the GRPs across the country have beefed up security to ensure that we can try and prevent any wrong activities that anybody may try to do. So, we have beefed up security all across the Indian railways.
